Knowledge of the golf swing and the ability to communicate are vital components of a valued golf instructor , however....
In my 40+ years of teaching, I have found, the ultimate key to getting positive results is to determine how a student “thinks”, and how they interpret what they see and hear.
As golfers we almost certainly watch the pros on TV and study the golf swing. Most likely we are all trying to mimic what we see or what we understand to be the proper swing, yet, not all of us can execute what we attempt. Why? The answer most people give is, “I’m not athletic” or “I’m not coordinated” enough. In some cases that may be true. However in my experience more often than not it‘s not true. People are not as successful as they would like because while they know what they want to do they are not approaching the task with the correct thoughts to get the job done.
Think about this - over the years there have been multiple swing philosophies all claiming to be the secret. From Natural Golf to Stack & Tilt - in all cases you will find golfers implementing a particular philosophy who will give testament to how great the system works, they never played better. While two slots down range there is a person totally frustrated claiming the same system is imposssible.
Why is that? Simple - the message delivered by a particular philosophy may click for some people and get them thinking in such a way their bodies start performing the desired movements, while other people are not so fortunate.
The fact is, there are many different philosophies out there, eveyone of them has success and failure stories.
The bottom line - there are some fundementail things that must occur in a golf swing to maximize consistency and distance. What determines your success in executing the best, most repetitive golf swing you are capable of is the ability to uncover how your body interprets what you are thinking and visualizing. That is the only secret you need to find. I can help you with that.
Give me a call or send an email. I welcome the opportunity to help you improve your game.

I have been a PGA Member golf professional for 30 years and a teaching pro for the past 22. When I need help with my golf swing the only person I trust is Bob Flynt. Bob's common sense approach to the swing and his ability to work with any body type or physical restriction makes him special. He doesn't teach a certain method or rely on the latest swing craze. He does it with sound, proven over time fundamentals, and backs it up showing you on video what he is saying. If you really want to improve your game, spending time with Bob will be money well spent.
John Cregan, PGA
I had taken more lessons, from more pros than anyone should admit. Bob is the best - period!
Roger Gilcrist, author of Gilcrist Guide to Golf Collectables
I have been a single digit handicapper for over 70 years. I trust Bob with my golf swing.
Bill Hall, 84 years young
Over the years I have taken lessons from many pros, some of whom were "big names". Since I started working with Bob over 20 years ago, I have seen no need to try any other instructor. I have recommended Bob to many of my friends, everyone of them has thanked me.
Bryan Dozier, former member of Wake Forest Golf Team, +1 Handicap
That's enough endorsements.
While this is not a testimonial written by a student., it is however a story I love to share. John Derr was a CBS Sportscaster and the original voice of the Masters. He was a celebrity in my circle plus after retiring from sportscasting Mr. Derr became the Executive Director of The Carolinas PGA, a position he held several years. With 400 PGA Members the Carolinas Section is the second largest in the country. Needless to say, when Mr. Derr contacted me to set up a lesson, I was not only flattered he chose me out of the 400 PGA Pros under his direction, but I was also nervous to say the least. When the day came for Mr. Derr to have his first lesson, he walked up, shook my hand and said, "It has been years since I had a lesson. In fact the last lesson I had was with Ben Hogan". My nervous meter went right off the scale! Mr. Derr continued to take lessons with me until he passed at age 97. Many of golf's elite attended his memorial services, and some who could not attend sent video clip messages including Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and Gary Player. Having Mr. Derr trust me with his golf swing was one of the highest honors of my career. Bob Flynt
I will close with another story that flattered and touched me. When JoAnn Ward scheduled a lesson with me, I was honored to think she would choose me. But it was not until JoAnn showed up for her lesson that I learned just how flattered and honored I would be. JoAnn told me, that before losing his fight against cancer, her husband recommended if she ever needed help with her game to call me. I really did not know her husband knew my name let alone would I have imagined he would recommend me. Her late husband was E. Harvie Ward, two time US Amateur Champion, legendary player and one of the players featured in the book “The Match”.
